We have some good news to share. We received confirmation from Sagamore Health Network that they have signed a new contract with the Sisters of St. Francis Health Systems. As you know, the two sides had been at an impasse for some time with respect to discounts and other contractual issues. We are very pleased that they have resolved their differences and the new contract will avoid any disruption in service to the insureds of the Statewide Benefit Cooperative. And, initial indications are that the new arrangement increases the discounts we will receive, which always helps in the battle against rising health care costs. |

The Trustees, along with the Trust consultant and insurance company, have been working with Sagamore and Sisters of St. Francis to keep you up to date on this issue and to assure no disruption in service. A week ago, we sent you a similar announcement that an alternative plan had been devised to ensure coverage by local providers in the event that the two parties could not resolve their differences. Fortunately, the alternative plan will not be needed, but it should be reassuring to know that the Trustees are watching over your plan to protect you and all the participants of the Statewide Benefit Cooperative. |
